We Can Help You With ADHD
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder with a typical onset in childhood, which often persists into adulthood. Inattention manifests as wandering off task, lacking persistence/focus, or disorganization. Hyperactivity refers to excessive motor activity such as fidgeting, tapping, or talkativeness, and impulsivity involves hasty actions. Symptoms produce impairments of personal, social, academic, or occupational functioning. This guide explains ADHD diagnoses and the treatments that can help you thrive.

Since ADHD is largely genetic and neurobiological, symptoms usually show up in childhood or adolescence. Katie offers a comprehensive approach focused on equipping parents of kids and teens with ADHD. Parents develop an understanding of ADHD, and learn skills and effective ways to respond to the difficulties children with ADHD often face. She helps families improve their interactions around these challenges to decrease parental stress. Katie provides psychoeducation about the factors that effect your child’s behavior such as the delay and malfunction of executive functioning skill development. She maps out the foundational skills to target in order to lay the groundwork to master advanced executive functioning skills. Katie also helps families make connections about the relationship between your child’s behavior, social factors, the parent/child relationship, sibling relationship, and parenting. She will help you explore the parenting situations that impact your mood and identify the negative feedback loops that commonly develop with families dealing with ADHD. You’ll get support to develop a consistent schedule and routine to help your family. Katie also helps parents develop the skills to help their children cope with difficult emotions and how to advocate for your child’s needs at school. ADHD can present several challenges for kids and families, and this process helps them develop the insight and skills they need to develop confidence and secure connection as a family.
