Helping Clients Thrive

I approach counseling as a process of building resiliency, so that problems in the present and future can be used as opportunities for growth. I work as a team with my clients because I believe the answers to our problems can be found within each of us and my role is to provide the support needed to draw those out. Such a delicate process requires a safe space, which I offer through non-judgmental listening and working through problems at a pace that feels comfortable. I assist in the exploration of beliefs that keep one stuck in a cycle of unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. I take a holistic approach to counseling by considering the role of our mind, body, and spirit on our health and well-being while utilizing my background in nutrition to support those struggling with weight management and other nutrition-related concerns. I help clients to identify uncovered and forgotten strengths while equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to face challenges on their own using evidence-based treatment.

What I Love About Counseling

I have always been fascinated by the wonder that is being human. Counseling is unique in that few other places offer the safety to expose our most raw and unseen selves and unpack our human experience while being heard by another without judgment. I am drawn to the transformation that can occur when we are given the opportunity to explore and feel the depth of our emotions in the presence of another. This transformation, which is largely unseen, is counter to our culture of quick, measurable results. I believe there is an ineffable beauty in the steady unfolding of a person experiencing inner healing. I consider this to be a sacred occurrence in which I am honored to share.

Favorite Quote

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen. Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance. Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage” -Brené Brown
